I practice Pilates almost daily, it's my main workout and I'm hooked. Despite trying various workouts, I always find myself coming back to Pilates. But that wasn't always the case. In my earlier teen years, I associated Pilates with something only my mom and her friends did. To be honest, I didn't really know what it was then.
A few years ago, I broke my elbow and underwent surgery. Recovery wasn’t easy, and I was told to try Pilates as physiotherapy. At first, I struggled with even the simplest movements and thought it wasn't for me. But months later, I gave it another shot by joining classes and following online videos at home. Soon, I noticed improvements in my elbow and my overall strength. Looking back, I wish I'd discovered Pilates earlier. Now, I realize how much it could’ve enhanced my lifestyle in my school years.
I like to look at Pilates as a tool that enhances your overall lifestyle, so here’s my list of reasons why you should give it a shot as a teen/student:

Pilates strengthens core muscles and increases body awareness, helping you sit and stand tall with proper alignment throughout the day. When you train yourself to be with proper posture automatically, you're subconsciously working your core to support yourself.
